Water Service Replacement to Begin on Pine Street

Work Completed Last Week, April 25^th to April 29^th:

·         Received required approvals to place water main along Pine Point from Church Street to Pine Street into service.

·         Installed water services along Pine Point from Church Street to Pine Street

·         Completed storm sewer service replacements

·         Completed storm sewer installations and replacements

·         Completed sanitary sewer manhole replacements

·         Made connection between the existing water main on East Lake Avenue to newly installed water main

·         Performed roadway base patching and curb & gutter repair along East Lake Avenue

Work Anticipated to be completed Next Week, May 2^nd to May 6^th: 

·         Monday, May 2^nd - Connect existing water main to the new water main at intersection of Pine Street and Pine Point

·         Complete roadway patch along East Lake Avenue

·         Receive required approvals to place new water main into service along Pine Street from Pine Point to East Lake Avenue

·         Water service replacement along Pine Street

·         Sanitary sewer repairs as needed

Water service replacements will begin this week on Tuesday or Wednesday along Pine Street. Water services will be replaced from the new water main to the existing valve and box located in front of each home. During the water service replacement, water to individual homes will be shut-off for approximately 1 hour while the transition from the old service to the new service is made. The contractor will notify each resident individually regarding the approximate time and day of the water shut-off prior to turning off the water.

 

Thank you for your patience and understanding as there will be various disruptions to your water service over the next week. On Monday, water will be turned off to make a connection between the new and existing water main at the intersection of Pine Point and Pine Street. If your water will be turned off, notification was provided on Friday. Throughout the week, as water service replacements are completed, individual homes will be shut-off from water as the connections are made.

Storm and Sanitary Repairs / Replacement On-Going

Work Completed Last Week, April 18^th to April 22^nd

·         Continued with required testing of installed water main.

·         Storm sewer installation and repairs

·         Tree transplanted from northerly end of Pine Street to Sleepy Hollow Park, work performed by Park District.

As water service replacements begin, the contractor will be excavating across the street, which will make traveling along the roadway increasingly more difficult. Water Main Installed

The main line water main will be completed either on Friday or Monday of next week. Following water main installation, the contractor will perform the required testing and acquire the necessary approvals prior to placing the water main into service and starting to install water services to each individual home. Water service installation may begin near the end of the week.

During the water service replacement, water to individual homes will be shut-off for approximately 1 hour while the transition from the old service to the new service is made. Water Main Installation Continues

Work Completed Last Week, April 4^th to April 8^th

·         Connected to existing water main at Church Street and Pine Point

·         Installation of water main from Church Street to southerly cul-de-sac

·         Installation of water main within southerly cul-de-sac.

Work Anticipated to be completed Next Week, April 11^th to 15^th

·         Continue water main installation from southerly cul-de-sac north to East Lake Avenue

·         Install water main within northerly cul-de-sac

This past week there were several water main breaks within the existing system. The existing water main is old and deteriorating; hence, the reason it is being replaced. In order to repair the broken mains, the water needs to be turned off as soon as possible. We will do everything possible to notify residents of these unscheduled water shut-downs. We are hopeful there will be no further water main breaks, but based on the past week, it is likely additional water main breaks will occur.

Whenever there is a scheduled water main shut-down, residents will be provided approximately 24-hour notice.

Water Main Construction Begins April 4th

Work Completed Last Week, March 28^th to April 1^st

·         Resident Meeting held on Wednesday, March 30^th

·         On-site meetings with contractor to coordinate construction activities

·         Internal televising of existing sewers along project site

Work Anticipated to be completed Next Week, April 4^th to 8^th

·         Begin new water main installation along Pine Street, starting at Church Street and working north

·         Saw cutting existing pavement 

A water shut-down has been scheduled for Monday, April 4^th, to connect to the existing water main at Church Street. Residents were notified by the Village of Glenview on Friday if this shut down will affect your home.  

As construction starts, we will do everything possible to minimize the inconvenience to your daily lives; however, we understand construction is disruptive so we appreciate your patience and understanding throughout the construction process. We will do our best to provide as much information as possible and provide advance notice for any inconveniences that you will be caused.
